In the waters of lake Galder, near Breda, we meet a group of seven. A seven-headed hydra with only its heads above the surface. The figures’ hairs are soaked and their
uniforms, simple black t-shirts, fade into the water’s
reflection. The characters are seemingly unaware of the
artificiality of the situation, behaving more like NPCs that only exist to fulfill a single purpose or to maintain a
composition.

The choir ensemble recites an URL (Uniform Resource
Locator), the standardized location markers of consumer internet. After some time, we gather that the ensemble is trying to recite a Google search result. The URL starts out with the well-known constant ‘https://ww.’, then reveals the identity: ‘google.com/’, and ends with ‘search?’,
followed by an immense set of letters, numbers and other
symbols. The choir starts out following a single member, which authoritatively states the constant after which the rest of the choir members cautiously take turns initiating. The constant ends in ‘search?’, after which the choir
dabbles in the vast possibilities for the next sound. There start to form subtle cracks in the choreographed routine:
mistakes are made in the constant.

Underneath the water there are threads spun
between the choir members. Seawee-like threads,
enveloping the legs, just out of sight of the camera, and the choir members instinctively know how to communicate
via them. To make their own playgound, just for themselves. The threads are those of friendships and of lovers, of
formal invitation and of paid participation. There are threads of hierarchies and fears, contained laughter and background viewers. And those who look very closely can see that even the most rigid of choreographies cannot contain the human spirit.
